"Where I'm From"

I am from breathtaking mountains and clear, starry nights
I am from summer days on the lake and chasing fireflies at sunset
I am from dirt bikes and four wheelers; and from coming home covered in mud
I am from the sounds of country music and the smell of home cooked meals
I am from the little white church up the road; where I learned that through Him, all things are possible
I am from a mother who taught me what true strength is; a woman who fought cancer and won
I am from a father who loves and supports me unconditionally; a man whose sense of humor makes me smile and roll my eyes at the same time
I am from hours spent swimming in the creek and weekends at grandma's house
I am from fourteen cousins and two beautiful nieces
I am from Friday night football games and teachers who inspired me
I am from family vacations spent fishing on the river and roasting marshmallows by a campfire
I am from crazy friends and an even crazier family, all of whom I wouldn't trade for the world; I am proudly a Hayhurst and a Stout
I am from best friends who have laughed with me during the good times and held me together during the bad
I am from 5 a.m. runs in rain, shine, or blizzard, where lifelong friends have been made
I am from dreaming big and accomplishing goals even I wasn't sure I could
I am from knowing that no matter how far I travel, West Virginia will always be home
